DIY PAINTED EASTER EGGS

A QUICK AND EASY 3-STEP GUIDE ON MAKING YOUR OWN EASTER DECORATIONS!

By emptying an egg of its yolk, you can expand its crafting possibilities. We love using blown-out eggs for Easter crafting with Rust-Oleum’s range of 125ml Chalky Finish Furniture Paints.

With this traditional DIY, you can create a stunning, colourful Easter centrepiece for Easter celebrations. Hang the hand-painted eggshells on branches collected from the garden to fill your home with spring-like colour. Plus, you can make an omelette for lunch afterwards with the leftover unused egg yolks.

What you will need

Step 1

Making a hole in the egg by pushing a nail through it
Holding the egg above a bowl, carefully tap and push a hole in the top centre of the egg with a nail. Push the nail in as far as it will go and remove.
insterting the cocktail stick into the egg hole
Take your cocktail stick and insert it into the hole; stir it around to help break up the yolk. Flip the egg over and repeat the whole process on the opposite side.

Step 2

Flushing the contents of the egg by blowing through the hole
Hold the egg over a bowl and flush out the contents of the egg by blowing through a hole.
cleaning the egg shell with water
Once all contents of the egg have been emptied, clean the egg shell with water. Wipe carefully with a cloth and leave to dry.

Time to get creative with your designs! We painted polka dot eggs, marble eggs, dipped eggs and more.

To decorate, we recommend Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint. This waterbased paint has virtually no odour and is available in 34 classic shades, perfect for Easter colour schemes. There’s also no need to prime as chalk paint will stick to virtually any surface!

Once dry, use your eggs to create beautiful Easter table decorations. You can place them in a basket, or easily hang them from branches by gluing ribbon onto the egg.

Decorate it!
